LaLa Life 35

A photo a week in the life of LaLa Photography, using various photographic mediums

Week 35

It's not even 'officially' Spring yet all the blooms are coming out. These plants are all from my garden and I've been showing my eldest son the wonders of life by growing some Gerbera's. I have been trying my absolute hardest not to squeal or panic whenever he tells me there's a bug; I would hate to pass on my paranoia to him at such a young age. We watch bees eating pollen from afar, gotten up close and personal with snails and water the plants when it hasn't been raining. I love Spring :)

LaLa Life 34

Week 34

** Taken on the iPhone using PhotoShake app **

Lately I have been eager to explore a new medium; paint!

So I purchased my first set of paints and brushes ready to start on my first 'project', which is for my children's room.  Despite the simple project, where I am making a canvas painting for my boys' newly painted wall, I am really excited to get started.  Hopefully it will help me build more confidence in trying more detailed paintings using flowers as a subject, or even one of the many gorgeous scenes around Perth.

While my first love will always be photography, I do like the idea of painting outside in the garden on a beautiful spring day.

LaLa Life 33

A photo a week in the life of LaLa Photography, using various photographic mediums

Week 33

It’s been a while since I’ve done a staged portrait shoot, and being that his birthday was coming up I decided to choose my dad.  “I want to take a photo of you smoking dad.”  He was perplexed at first at the ‘I want to take a photo of you’ bit, but agreed when I finished off with ‘of you smoking’.  I wanted the Ray Bans off but he insisted they stay on and I’m glad I listened to him because it really brought out the coolness that is my dad.

For week 33 of LaLa Life I wanted to make a tribute to my dad who will be celebrating his birthday on August 15. While I did not always show it, thank you for being the best dad and for being a wonderful ‘Lolo’ (grandfather) to my children.  Here’s to many more years of good health, happiness and faith.

A & C Maternity

"A mother's joy begins when new life is stirring inside, when a tiny heartbeat is heard for the very first time, and a playful kick reminds her that she is never alone." - Author Unknown.

I recently had the opportunity to photograph this exciting time in the lives of Aleisha and Clary, anticipating the birth of their first child. Evident through the photos are Aleisha and Clary's loving and playful nature, with Clary stealing the spotlight for a few photos! I had so much fun and laughed a lot during this shoot, to the point where I nearly smashed my lens (don't ask!).

As you can see in these photographs Aleisha had that gorgeous mummy-to-be glow. I even think baby had a great time during the shoot as he or she was very active during the majority of the shoot! I have no doubt Aleisha and Clary will make wonderful parents when their little bundle of joy arrives in September.

LaLa Life 32

Week 32

Whenever I edit wedding photos, I go on this awesome trip down memory lane where flashbacks of the newlywed’s special day come flooding in.  It is amazing how one photograph can remind me of a particular moment captured and I often find myself getting lost in the emotion of the photograph by smiling or getting teary. And I’m only the photographer!!!

As I was going through the photographs of a wedding I assisted with Katey Manuchehri Photography, I came across this pearler of a photo. Katey and I had finished taking photographs in Nedlands and were on our way to the reception in Sorrento. I must have taken the longest route possible because by the time I reached the freeway exit en route to the reception, the bridal party limousine was at the traffic lights! I couldn’t believe it, after all I left before they did! So it happened that I pulled in a lane beside the limousine ready to speed past so I could get to the reception before them when the bridal party recognised me in the car, lowered the window and started waving at me. In response, I picked up my camera from the passenger seat and started taking photos of them. Both the bridal party members in the picture and I were having a good laugh at the impromptu photo opportunity before the traffic light turned from red to green and I raced off to the reception.

I think I may possibly be speaking on behalf of my fellow photographers when I say that we too hold special memories of each wedding or event we photograph.  I know I regularly look back through all the photographs I have taken with my couples and every time I do, memories of your special day are re-lived.

L & C Wedding

"Love puts the fun in together, the sad in apart, and the joy in a heart." - Author Unknown.

I had the pleasure of assisting Katey Manuchehri Photography in capturing Con and Laura's special day. Con and Laura were such a beautiful and easy-going couple, so caught up with each other in their moment, and oblivious to the shenanigans of their playful bridal party.
