LaLa Life 24

A photo a week in the life of LaLa Photography, using various photographic mediums.

Week Twenty Four

Prior to Xavier Catholic Primary School's Blessing and Official Opening of New Building Ceremony (http://lalapblog.blogspot.com/2011/06/xavier-cpss-blessing-official-opening.html), LaLa Photography had the pleasure of assisting the school in providing photographs of the new buildings.  The photos were used by the school in the booklets for the ceremony, as well as newsletters that were sent out to the parents.

Here are just some of the photos LaLa Photography provided :)

Xavier CPS's Blessing & Official Opening of New Buildings

LaLa Photography had the privilege of photographing Xavier Catholic Primary School's official opening and blessing of their new school buildings, being a multipurpose hall and new classroom block.  With the assistance of the Federal Government through a stimulus under the 'Building the Education Revolution - Primary Schools for the Twenty First Century' program, the buildings and the facilities they provide will help accommodate the needs of Xavier Catholic Primary school not only now, but also into the future as the school continues to grow.

Member for Armadale Mr Tony Buti MLA; Mr Wayne Bull from the Catholic Education Office; regional principals; representatives from the Loreto Sisters, Sisters of Mercy, and St Francis Xavier Church; as well as members of the school staff, the school board, Parents and Friends ("P&F") Committee, parents and students were in attendance at the ceremony on June 8, 2011.

Teachers and students were in attendance at the ceremony.

LaLa Photography also provided images for the booklets used at the ceremony.

Each blessed crucifix was placed in the new rooms.

Father Kazimierz Stuglik and Mr Wayne Bull from the Catholic Education Office unveiling the official opening plaques of the new buildings.

After the official ceremony, there was beautiful weather to enjoy some afternoon tea provided by the school's P&F Committee.

LaLa Life 23

A photo a week in the life of LaLa Photography, using various photographic mediums.

Week Twenty Three

As evident through my Soul Food albums on LaLa Photography's Facebook fan page (www.facebook.com/lalaphotography), I enjoy dining out.  The presentation, the company at the table and the overall taste of the meal; they all influence one's dining experience with the added bonus of not having to be the one to cook and wash the dishes! However as of late, the tables are starting to turn...

My husband and I have recently taken to cooking dishes from our respective cultures; dishes that were cooked by our parents when we were growing up.  Such dishes cannot be found in today's cookbooks because, like an heirloom, the recipes have been passed down to the next generation and are kept in the mental cookbooks of our parents.  So for week 23 of LaLa Life, I took a picture of a few dishes we were learning to cook from my mother-in-law - Beef Vindaloo, Aloo (potato) Fry and (fresh, hand-made) Parathas.

It is true what they say about home-made meals having a unique flavour of its own, which many restaurants aim for but rarely achieve.  The dishes were delicious and it was enjoyed by my family who were there to sample our cooking.  Now if only the dishes could wash themselves....

LaLa Life 22

Week Twenty Two

Hello winter!  After months of sunshine, winter made a rainy entrance as it started its first day back on the job. Rain, rain, beautiful rain Y

During the last days of autumn we planted a small tree in the backyard.  Beside the newly planted tree was a mango tree.  "Where are all the mangoes?" my observant son asks, to which my husband lovingly replied, "The trees don't grow fruit during the winter.  They will go to sleep and in spring they will start to grow more mangoes then."

So like the mango fruit tree in my garden, I hope to take advantage of the winter weather to rest and recharge, both mentally and creatively.  Today the carrier pigeon visited me and delivered some goodies that I was enjoying with some home-made scones and a coffee, with winter's soundtrack of rain playing in the background. These goodies are just some of the many tools I'm using to aid my creative thinking process.

Then come spring and summer I will be ready, just like the mango tree, to bear fruit.  I will be recharged and I will bring that creativity into fruition as I create some beautiful photographic memories with you.
