A photo a week in the life of LaLa Photography, using various photographic mediums.
Week Twenty Three
As evident through my Soul Food albums on LaLa Photography's Facebook fan page (www.facebook.com/lalaphotography), I enjoy dining out. The presentation, the company at the table and the overall taste of the meal; they all influence one's dining experience with the added bonus of not having to be the one to cook and wash the dishes! However as of late, the tables are starting to turn...
My husband and I have recently taken to cooking dishes from our respective cultures; dishes that were cooked by our parents when we were growing up. Such dishes cannot be found in today's cookbooks because, like an heirloom, the recipes have been passed down to the next generation and are kept in the mental cookbooks of our parents. So for week 23 of LaLa Life, I took a picture of a few dishes we were learning to cook from my mother-in-law - Beef Vindaloo, Aloo (potato) Fry and (fresh, hand-made) Parathas.
It is true what they say about home-made meals having a unique flavour of its own, which many restaurants aim for but rarely achieve. The dishes were delicious and it was enjoyed by my family who were there to sample our cooking. Now if only the dishes could wash themselves....
